Autumn in the delta is definitely magical. The colors of the trees, the stew, the warm autumn colors, all these make the delta an excellent place to visit in autumn.

Beyond these attractions, in the fall we also have the migration of birds that leave for warm countries, the delta being a stopping place for several days or hours for many species.

A four-day tour would help us see a lot of species, some that stay over the winter in the delta, others that are only in migration.

Day 1: The tour proposed by us departs from the port of Tulcea, with the slow steamer. Entrance to the Trofilca canal, Cotete lake, Sontea canal, Fortuna lake, Mila 23. Among the species we can see are: the black stork (Ciconia nigra), the honney buzzard (Pernis apivorus), the lesser spooted eagle (Clanga pomarina), squacco heron (Ardeola ralloides), kingfisher (Alcedo atthis), etc….Surely during the day we will also see white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus), etc.

Accommodation and dinner at Mila 23 at the guesthouse.

Day 2: Early in the morning we could take a small boat tour. The lakes around the village offer a host for many species and we could see and photograph very well the caspian tern (Hydroprogne caspia), little crake(Porzana parva), spotted crake (Porzana porzana), spooted redshank (Tringa erythropus), black tailed godwit (Limosa limosa). branta rufficolis

We continue the day with the big steamer through the area of the Batag monastery, where we could again see the red footed falcon (Falco vespertinus), the hobby (Falco subbuteo), the purple heron (Ardea purpurea), etc…

Accommodation and dinner at Mila 23.

Day 3: An excursion on lakes and canals by steamboat and motor boat. We will reach Lake Babina, Lake Matita, Lake Merhei, places rich in birds, quiet, places that shelter a wide variety of bird species.

Day for white or dalmatian pelicans, storks, eagles and white-tailed eagle, etc….

Accommodation at Mila 23.

Day 4: Return to Tulcea with arrival in Tulcea port late after dinner. We go along the Olguta canal, Sontea Lata canal, Candura Veche canal. Day full of birds, black woodpecker (Dryobates martius), grey headed woodpecker (Picus canus), lesser spooted eagle (Clanga pomarina), etc…
